BSE Saatvik 100 Index is Launched, have you heard it ?
Do you know that Bombay Stock Exchange Limited (BSE) have launched a new Index the BSE Saatvik 100 Index with 100 companies pulled from the BSE 500 specially for the Jain community. This Index contains only those companies aligned with ethical, cultural, and religious principles of purity and non-violence not involved in it.
The Categories specially excluded from this INDEX are:
Alcohol
Tobacco
Gambling
Meat or Leather
Narcotics
Vulgar Entertainment
Animal cruelty
Pesticides or Insecticides...
But why ? Was there any need to do so...
Being a Jain I know people who were mainly confined to investing in Real estate or Gold but they have a platform where they can switch in to the Real Economic development of India & be a part of the Fastest Growing Economy of the world.. With BSE Satvik 100, they can easily put in their hard-earned money in the companies that actually share their values. The index will be reconstituted semi-annually in June and December.
Now you'll start seeing a lot of these Jain friendly ETFs and index funds coming up. Regard to returns, they are as good as any Large cap fund
